A Scholarship Program for Graduated High School Females and A Mentoring Program For Young Women 13 to 18 Years of Age.
The Raising Grace Scholarship Fund, Inc. program issues the Martha D. Lauderdale Scholarship Award of Excellence of $1, 000 and a laptop computer to graduated female high school students who have demonstrated extraordinary service to the community.
Among the criteria are the following which include but are not limited to: A Completed Application; A 2.5 GPA; A 500-700 word Essay; A Current Transcript; Three References; Two Letters of Recommendation; A Copy of the High School Diploma; A Letter of acceptance to College/University Technical or Trade School or Bursar's or Enrollment Letter (If not received when application is due, submit with copy of diploma).
Scholarship applications for 2010 will be issued beginning October 31st, 2009 and are due by December 31st, 2009. Recipients will be notified, if they are selected, by January 9th, 2010.
Scholarship Award Certificates are presented at the Annual Raising Grace Scholarship Fund, Inc. Fundraiser, March 2010 (Women’s History Month). the time and place of the event are TBD.
Monetary awards/Laptops are issued upon receipt of a copy of the high school diploma and school enrollment or Bursar's letter.
Our mentoring classes help prepare our youth for life, during and after high school, by providing training in the following areas:
- Career Choices/Goals
- Front Line Presentation;
- Good Mental/Physical Health
- Developing Relationships
- Life Skills 101
- Mastering Good Study
- Self Esteem
- Time Management
- Art and Culture
Participants in the mentoring program are guaranteed a scholarship to college, technical or trade school upon completion of the program. Requirements are but not limited to:
- Semi-monthly group and/or individual mentoring sessions
- Twenty (20) hours of Community Service a year
- Participation/Leadership in Program Projects
- Participation/Leadership in Fundraising
To qualify for the Raising Grace Scholarship Fund, Inc. Scholarship, the following is necessary:
- 1. Submission of your completed application by December 31st, 2009
- 2. Submission of an Essay, minimum 250 words, maximum 500 words, which should include your goals and aspirations (to be submitted with your completed application)
- 3. College/University/Technical/Trade School Acceptance, Enrollment Letter or Bursar’s Receipt
- 4. Copy of latest Transcript or Report Card (to be submitted with your completed application)
- 5. Three References (to be submitted with your completed application)
- 6. Two letters of Recommendation (to be submitted with your completed application)
- 7. A minimum 2.5 GPA
- 8. A Copy of your High School Diploma (due by July 17th, 2010)
